Vodokonal JSC is one of the largest enterprises in Yakutsk. It has been providing water supply and wastewater disposal services to consumers in Yakutsk since 1941.
The main objective of the enterprise is to ensure high-quality and reliable supply of water to Yakutsk. To complete this objective, water is withdrawn on the river bank in the North-Western part of the city, and then purified in a complex of water intake and treatment facilities. The capacity of the complex is 110,000 m3 per day, which is currently twice as much as the city’s actual requirement. The withdrawn water goes through a multistage process of treatment and disinfection, and is afterwards distributed between water supply pumping stations, and then transferred to consumers of Yakutsk. Since 2018 the company has stopped using liquid chlorine for water treatment, replacing with the more efficient and less hazardous sodium hypochlorite. The clean water is also UV-treated. At the moment, the water supplied to the city complies with all the sanitary regulations and standards and is classified as potable.
