Steel PUF Pipes
Steel PUF pipes are a state-of-the-art energy-saving pre-fabricated element. They feature a nesting (sandwich) structure comprised of two pipes, one of which is placed inside the other, with the space between the pipes filled with polyurethane foam heat insulation.
The effectiveness of this method, as compared to pipeline heat insulation using roll or piece materials, is field-proven in the utilities, oil, and gas industries.Major advantages of PUF pipes are:
- Durability and reliability;
- Low thermal conductivity;
- Ease and speed of installation;
- Availability of components;
- Low failure rate because due to the possibility of detecting areas with damaged insulation.
- Acceptance, cleaning, and preparation of steel pipes to applying the insulation;
- Manufacturing shell pipes using polyethylene and galvanized steel;
- Assembly and “packing,” as the insulation professionals call it;
- Workpiece pre-heating and polyurethane filling;
- Product acceptance and testing.
- Outer pipe;
- Heat insulation;
- Inner pipe;
- Rapid remote control system;
Each batch of products is tested. The test results are recorded in quality certificates and are duplicated on the manufacturer's label or tag.The difference of PUF pipes is the material of the protective shell and the thickness of the insulation layer. Galvanized shell is used for trunk lines laid above the ground, for example, running on supports, while polyethylene shell is used for underground lines.
In terms of thickness, insulation is divided into 2 types that are chosen depending on climatic conditions and properties of the transported medium. Type 2 is intended for areas with harsh climate, and type 1 is intended for moderate operating conditions.
The price of a PUF pipe depends on both the type and design of insulation and on the working pipe material. For example, the price of a steel pipe in polyurethane insulation will be different than that of a PE pipe with similar coating.
