PUF pipes with tracer
A PUF pipe with tracer is essentially two or more pipes in the same insulation. Typically, the second pipe is used to heat the main pipe carrying cold water. Inside the tracer runs a heating cable or a medium capable of maintaining constant temperature.
Using PUF pipes with tracer reduces operating costs and eliminates the need to continuously monitor the heat carrier. A pipe of a smaller diameter is often used as the follower element, fastened to the main line using clamps, welding or wire straps. To protect the structure against exposure to aggressive impacts and the environment, it is enclosed into one more shell. The general insulation material depends on the operating environment of the heat network: galvanized steel for above-ground installation, and typically polyethylene shell for underground pipelaying.
Tracer types:
- Single version;
- Spiral mounted around the base pipe;
- Two or three pipes running in parallel inside one insulating shell;
- A shaped product with two separate channels.
The single follower pipe is the most popular type. It is mounted parallel, below or on the side of the main line, and in the horizontal arrangement – under the line. PUF pipes with tracer have proven their reliability of operation. This is ensured by their immunity to hydraulic loads, resistance to deformation, strength of joints and, most importantly, their ability to maintain their main function – the transfer of working medium.
Tracers in the pipeline system provide easy access for mounting of the heating cable to maintain constant temperature of the transported medium. This is especially relevant for moving easily solidifying substances (oil, benzene). Besides heating cable, pipes with hot water are used to maintain a stable temperature. Using tracers protects the electric cable from damages during the pipeline assembly. If required, the tracer can be run only on a selected part of the main line, up to 25 km in length.
Using pipes with tracers depends on the properties of the transported medium. All the products we supply pass a mandatory compliance check to the GOST standard. Tracers and pipelines are checked separately, and are covered with PUF insulation only after they have successfully passed the check. The information on the passed tests is reflected in the product’s data sheet and duplicated on labels and tags.
